University-managed houses

You can live in a single bedroom in a fully-furnished house (managed by the University) in Brighton & Hove. We also have some shared bedrooms.

Rent and facilities

The houses have three to 12 bedrooms, and shared kitchens and bathrooms.

They are all in Brighton & Hove with good bus or train links to the campus, and you can’t choose which house you live in or the location as we allocate according to availability.

If you live in our University-managed houses, you don’t have to:

  • pay a deposit
  • pay rent up front
  • provide a guarantor.

What is included

Your rent includes:

  • utility bills and service charges
  • regular cleaning of communal areas. This doesn’t include washing up or cleaning of your bedroom
  • contents insurance (basic cover)
  • maintenance, management and campus security services.

Your bedroom includes:

  • bed and mattress (not bedding)
  • wardrobe and drawers
  • desk with lamp and chair
  • bookshelves
  • blinds or curtains
  • mirror.

Your kitchen is normally shared and includes a cooker, fridge freezer and a kettle. Some kitchens also have a microwave. You need to bring your own cutlery and crockery.

Our accommodation is non-smoking and we do not allow pets.

While technically not included in the rent, internet access is provided in our residences by the University as a campus service.
