Mentoring
On these pages, you'll find everything you need to know about the central mentoring scheme at Sussex.
Mentoring - unlock your potential!
Mentoring is a developmental relationship where someone shares their knowledge/skills and experience with another person to help them progress. It provides a confidential and psychologically safe space for learning and growth.
We have recently launched MentorNet, an innovative platform that aims to facilitate and enhance mentoring relationships at Sussex. It’s structured like a social networking site, allowing mentors and mentees to create user profiles in a user-friendly and accessible way to foster meaningful mentoring relationships.
There are options to allow for identity-based matching, which means that mentees share a specific characteristic with their mentors, as well as lived experiences in a range of areas.
How to join the Sussex Staff Mentoring Programme as a mentee, mentor or both!
To join the Staff Mentoring Programme as either a mentor or mentee, please complete the relevant development session outlined to the right of this page. Following this you will receive access to MentorNet,where you can set up a profile and begin matching. If you would like to discuss any aspect of the Mentoring Programme, please email od@sussex.ac.uk.
Other Mentoring Schemes
There are also a number of other mentoring schemes at the University including the Library mentoring scheme, early-career mentoring for researchers from the Research Staff Office, Sussex Alumni, as well as academic mentoring in schools (contact Schools directly for more information).
We also have a reciprocal relationship with the University of Brighton with regards to mentoring. If you are a prospective mentor or mentee and would like to be matched with someone from Brighton, please email od@sussex.ac.uk.
