What classes can I do?

Our group fitness programme is designed to allow you to find the perfect workout to suit your goals.

We take pride in being able to provide one of the largest and most diverse group fitness programmes in the south east. Quality instruction and teaching is at the heart of every class and you'll benefit from the energy that group training brings. We believe we have a group fitness class for everyone.

Are classes included in membership?

All of our in-person classes are free with Gold and Silver Sussexsport membership.

If you're a Bronze member or a non-member, you can pay per class. Download our price list for pay-and-play options: Price List 23/24.

Yes, you can check our live system to see available spaces for classes and fitness room visits.

Monday

Pilates: 8am - 8.45am

Instructor: Louise

Venue: Sport Centre Dance Studio

Mat-based Pilates focusing on improving flexibility and strength for the whole body. Slow, controlled movements for maximum effect and relaxation. This class is suitable for beginners and improvers.

Zumba: 12.05pm - 12.50pm

Zumba fuses hypnotic Latin rhythms and easy to follow moves to create a one-of-a-kind class that will blow you away.

Small Group Training: 12pm - 12.45pm

Instructor: Sussexsport Fitness Team

Venue: Falmer Sports Complex Strength and Conditioning Room

A coaching focused session covering the key exercises in a strength training workout. The session will cover warm up, take you through a circuit of 5 of the main strength movements, Squat, Deadlift, Row, Push Up and Plank.

Indoor Group Cycling: 12.05pm - 12.50pm

Cycle to the beat of the music or speed through challenging intervals. This high intensity class will help you burn calories, energise the body and is suitable for all abilities.

If you are new to indoor group cycling please read the Schwinn bike set up information first.

Based on flowing sequences and precise alignment, linked to full rhythmic breathing that will open up both body and mind. This class will improve your strength, stamina and flexibility.

Aerial Yoga: 2.15pm - 3.15pm

Venue: Sport Centre Dance Studio

Move between yoga postures using a low-hanging wide aerial silk, hung like a hammock, to give flowing movements that relax and stretch the body.

Long sleeves and long trousers recommended wear, but not essential. Please wear clothing with no zips or buckles, and remove watches and jewellery prior to each class.

Gandiva Yoga: 5pm - 6pm

Small Group Strength: 5.15pm - 6pm

Strength training using a mixed variety of weightlifting exercises aimed to target a full body workout. Maximising the time available to strengthen our muscles and increase bone density, as well as helping joints improve their full range of motion. The movements are slow and controlled and with minimal class participants allows for more personal training from our instructors for correct technique and form. You will be challenged and leave with a positive feeling that lasts and will feel like you have not only worked out but learned a lot.

Dynamic Pilates: 6pm - 7pm

This is a much more movement based and demanding class for those that enjoy the core elements of Pilates, but want a greater workout.

A 30 min blast using high intensityy, fast paced movements to work the body from head to toe. The class will finish with 15 mins of stretch and recovery.  A class dedicated to starting the week strongly.

CardioBox: 5.05pm - 5.50pm

CardioBox is a high energy class using a mix of simple martial arts moves mixed with traditional aerobics exercises to create a full body workout. Kick, punch and squat away the calories with fat burning and stress releasing fun workout. Suitable for all abilities & fitness levels, no martial arts expereince needed.

Metabolic Training: 5.30pm - 6.30pm

Venue: Falmer Sports Complex Fitness Room

A class centred on strength training to produce a high intensity class that trains both the muscular and cardiovascular system to create a smart training solution. The class uses barbells, dumbbells, ropes, kettlebells and medicine balls and requires some experience of free weight training. The class is a great calorie burner, great fun and is a challenging workout.

Stretch and Relax: 6.05pm - 6.50pm

Stretching should be an important part of your physical & mental health routine. It helps keep the muscles flexible & strong by maintaining good range of motion through the joints. It reduces muscle aches, muscle tension and can help reduce stress. 

After we have given the whole body a good stretch out we will finish off with a little relaxation work to help the brain feel as free as your muscles. Overall outcome of the session is to leave with your muscles feeling looser & your mind feeling clearer

Boxercise: 6pm - 7pm

Boxercise is the best stress buster around! It is considered one of the most effective forms of cross-training available. Boxercise combines a cardio workout with a conditioning workout, stimulsting all muscle groups to help you increase your fitness and stamina, lose weight and tone up all at the same time; making it one of the most fun and effective ways to exercise.

Strength and core works on switching on all our deep stabilising muscles so that we improve balance, core control and is great for injury prevention. The movements are slow and strong to allow for correct technique and form. Ahead of your class

  • Please let reception know that you have arrived for your class so that we can register your attendance
  • If you have booked your place and fail to attend, arrears will show on your account and you will be unable to carry out any other bookings until these arrears have been paid
  • Drink plenty of water to avoid dehydration and if you have any injuries or problems then discuss these with the instructor before the class
  • Please make sure to arrive ahead of the class start time. Entry will be denied if you are more than 10 minutes late
  • We ensure that all instructors are fully qualified and experienced. However, all participants take part in any activity at their own risk.

Waiting Lists

If a class is fully booked you have the option of going on the waiting list, just ask at the Sport Centre or Falmer Sports Complex reception. We will attempt to contact you if a place becomes available, so please make sure we have your correct contact details. Please note that being on a waiting list does not guarantee you a place, but is to note your interest in case a place becomes available.
