Creative Practice: Ideas and Exploration (P4038)

15 credits, Level 4

Autumn teaching

The Creative Practice: Ideas and Exploration module will introduce you to a range of media making practices from across the disciplines taught on the Media Production BA.

Centred around a series of visiting speaker lectures, you will be introduced to multiple individual working practices of artists, designers, filmmakers and practice research academics. You’ll gain an insight into the processes by which professional makers find inspiration, explore themes and develop ideas for their work.

The lectures are complemented by seminars where you’ll widen the scope of enquiry. You will look at specific examples of contemporary media practice, identify modes and methods and investigate ways in which the techniques of others may be applied to your own practice as a media maker.

You will undertake weekly exercises, employing different strategies for research and development of practice in various modes, recording and reflecting on them weekly.
